Summer Stock Austin accepts applicants who are not in school with relevant and equivalent experience and age.

Rehearsals, Tech, and Performances through

all applicants must be available between 9am-10pm
for the entirety of the season

STEP 1. COMPLETE YOUR ONLINE APPLICATION

Have the following ready:

  • your resume
  • your cover letter
  • one letter of recommendation that speaks for your performing abilities
  • one letter of recommendation that speaks for your mentorship *mentorship applicants only
  • your audition video (if applicable)

If you have completed at least one year of college, you are eligible to apply for our mentorship program. These positions are supplemented with a stipend. 

Are you past a year into college or age equivalent? Do you have relevant experience or interest in a particular area of a theatre company? Do you have strong leadership skills? Consider applying for a mentorship position with your online application to hone in your skills with qualified theatre professionals and receive a stipend for the summer. Simply say "yes" in your application and submit your essay and letter of recommendation for consideration. 

STEP 2. AUDITION

You have two ways to complete your audition process. 

AUDITION BY VIDEO

Complete your online application and submit your audition video with the following.

  • 2 contrasting songs appropriate for your voice range:
    • 1 song (16-32 bars) of the classical style or a classic musical theatre song
    • 1 song (16-32 bars) of the pop/rock musical theatre style 
  • 1 contemporary monologue (under 1 minute)
  • 1 dance combo (1 minute) that shows your technique/style/tricks

*Upon completing your online application, you will be directed to sign up for an audition. YOU CAN IGNORE THIS STEP. (please see * below)

Video auditions must be received on or before MARCH 2ND to be considered. After reviewing your video, we will let you know if we would like to see you at callbacks. Callbacks are March 17th and 18th. 

*If you do not receive an invitation to callbacks via your video audition do not be discouraged. Simply click here to sign up for a slot at our Live Auditions for another shot! 

AUDITION LIVE

Complete your online application to sign up for a slot at our Live Auditions. Prepare the following material and we'll see you there!

Live auditions and dance calls will take place on March 15th and 16th, with callbacks on March 17th and 18th.  

If you have a scheduling conflict, please email gmorris@thelongcenter.org.

  • If you are interested in writing (songs, scripts, poetry, short stories, etc.), please let us know as we are working on developing a space to foster young writers interested in original creations

After reviewing your audition, we will let you know if we would like to see you at callbacks on the 17th and 18th.

STEP 2. SIGN UP TO INTERVIEW 

Complete your online application to sign up for a slot at our Live Auditions. Bring the following and we'll see you there. 

  • Bring a copy of your resume. 
  • Bring samples of your previous work (ie. prompt book, calling script, designs/sketches, photos/videos, or portfolio. 

After we review your interview, we will let you know if we would like to have you in our company this summer. 

*As a prospective crew member, you are not required to attend a dance call or callbacks. 

Summer Stock Austin's Apprenticeship Program is an extension of Summer Stock's mentorship program. Young students and professionals who have completed past their first year in college or are age equivalent may apply. SSA apprenticeships are paid positions that require specific qualifications.

STEP 2. INTERVIEW WITH US

After applying, you will be contacted for an interview. 

When you interview...

  • Make sure you set up your Skype account. 
  • Have a copy of your resume handy. 
  • Be ready to discuss samples of your previous work (ie. prompt book, calling script, designs/sketches, photos/videos, or portfolio. 

After we review your interview, we will let you know if we would like to have you in our company this summer.
